Position Description

Vice President of Business Development
Division Overview: Communication Systems' experience spans more than 60 years in the design, production and integration of communication systems and components. Communication Systems is a leading supplier of commercial and military interior communications and audio distribution systems, wireless communication products, mass transit communications, passenger entertainment and TV surveillance systems, integrated radio management systems (IRMS), airline audio products, and microwave products.

Brief Summary:

  • This position will report directly to our Communications Systems President and lead all divisional business development efforts for military and commercial products.
  • Direct, oversee and coordinate activities for the entire Marketing function of the Division to ensure that orders, goals and objectives are met or exceeded in accordance with the Division’s strategic plan by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate Directors and Managers.
  • Establishes short and long-range Marketing objectives, plans and policies to increase market share and profitability for division products and services subject to approval of the division President. Participates with other division staff in formulating and administering overall division policies, goals and objectives.
  • Dispenses advice, guidance, direction and authorization to carry out major plans and procedures, consistent with established division policies.
  • Establishes requirements for the Marketing organization, assuring their adequacy and soundness in meeting division and corporate needs.
  • Reviews operating results comparing them to established objectives and taking steps to ensure corrective action is implemented, as necessary.
  • Recommends B&P and IR&D activities and budgets in accordance with other division staff and based upon assessment of market forces and information regarding upcoming procurements.

Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in business or management discipline (M.B.A.) preferred, with (B.S.E.E., B.A. in Marketing or related technical/business field).
  • Minimum of 20 years related experience and/or training in engineering and program management disciplines, with 10 years managerial experience.
  • Prior background with US Military and Commercial Communication Systems, Ground Vehicles, and Aviation Platforms are required.
  • Familiarity with government procurement agencies and regulations, as well as prime contractors and competitors in the market segments, which are served by the Division’s products and services.
  • Experience and familiarity with marketing strategies and research in both the military and commercial marketplaces.
  • Prior knowledge with government (military) standards and proposal requirements are preferred.
  • Must have excellent communications and organizational skills, with the ability to prepare and effectively deliver presentations. Must be PC literate and proficient in word, excel and email.
  • Must have a background that would permit the issuance of a Security clearance, which includes US citizenship.
