Position Description

Position Purpose:
The purpose of this role is establishment of a first-class Low Latency Market Data and Direct Exchange Feed platform for Global Equity (GE) business users and applications in North America, as well as leading the global strategy and engineering of those platforms. Create a partnership with GE application teams, and contribute to the architecture of systems with regards to the use of market data and messaging technologies.

Key Accountabilities:
Primary Objectives
* Establish and maintain a low latency market data Direct Exchange environment for the North American global Equities (GE) business.
* Establish a global blueprint and strategy for GE Direct Exchange feeds including both RBC sites and co-located Exchange facilities.
* Partner with application development teams to ensure that market data dependency risks are minimized and that needs are fully understood and met.
* Ensure the highest levels of reliability and support for the NA GE market data environment.
* Establish KPI (key performance indicator) metrics that track the speed and reliability of the market data environment.
* Assist in the evaluation and analysis of new business initiatives and proposals as they relate to market data

Technical
* Expert knowledge of networks, hardware and software related to Capital Markets Market Data environments with a specific focus on Equity related products and technologies in use for low-latency direct exchange feed implementations. (NYSE Technologies (Wombat), Celoxica, Exegy, Redline , Reuters RDFD, etc)
* Expert knowledge of low latency Messaging protocols and the associated software components and APIs (Solace, 29West LBM, Tibco RV, etc.)
* Expert knowledge of vendor products and ability to establish strong relationships with these vendors.
* Extensive experience of maintaining and deploying enterprise market data and messaging tools and services, specifically systems monitoring and capacity planning technologies for low latency environments (Hawk, ITRS, TipOff, etc.)
* Extensive experience of underlying networking and server technologies used in low latency infrastructures (Infiniband, 10GbE, Linux, TCP/UDP Offloading cards, etc.)
* Extensive knowledge Exchange Datafeeds provided by the main North American Equity and Options Exchanges (NYSE, Nasdaq, OPRA, CME, TSX, etc.) and the technologies used to deliver those feeds in both client and co-located facilities.
