Security Officer (2nd Shift)

2nd shift: 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm (M-F)

Security Officers are responsible for carrying out all assignments, programs and special instructions involving fire and security personnel to insure full and adequate protection of Company property and personnel. Officers must use good judgment when conducting investigations and preparing reports relating to security issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Control access to the inner perimeter of S&W property.
  • Control entrance and exit of all personnel and visitors.
  • Monitor CCTV and alarm systems and respond to alarm notifications.
  • Alert appropriate personnel in the event of emergencies.
  • Prepare written security reports documenting important occurrences during the shift.
  • Attend regular training to maintain MA LTC and firearms proficiency.
  • Cooperate with local police, fire and civil defense agencies.
  • Make recommendations for continuous improvement to S&W Security Program.
  • Regular attendance (as defined in our policies) is required.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Additional responsibilities may include providing ancillary support in case of emergency.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and clutter free workstation.
  • Department specialty assignments and/or special projects assigned to individuals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience, Competencies and Education

  • Minimum 1-3 years' security experience required; may substitute law enforcement and/or military experience for security experience.
  • High School diploma/GED required; College degree preferred.
  • Candidates must be at least 21 years of age and be able to perform the duties required of the position.
  • Candidates must possess a MA Class A License to carry Firearms.
  • Candidates must be a citizen of the US.
  • Candidates cannot have been convicted or pled nolo contendre to a felony or job-related crime or a state or federal misdemeanor involving the use or attempted use of physical force or the use or threatened use of a firearm.
  • Candidates must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Candidates must pass a background investigation and drug screening.
  • Candidates must have the ability to complete and pass First Responder training and Firearms Safety Assessment prior to or upon hire.
  • Candidates must have the ability to complete and pass an annual job scenario based Physical Assessment Test (PAT) upon hire.
  • Candidates must have the ability to work a minimum of two (2) overtime shifts per month.

Language Skills

  • Good command of the English language and demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Secondary language is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and smell.
  • May be required to lift up to 30 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions, including temperature extremes, during day and night shifts.
  • Work is often performed in emergency and stressful situations.
  • Individual is exposed to hearing alarms and hazards associated with fighting fires and rendering emergency medical assistance, including smoke, noxious odors, fumes, chemicals, liquid chemicals, solvents and oils.
  • The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. It is reasonably anticipated that the individual will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens and other infectious materials in the course of their duties.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, except during certain firefighting or EMT activities when noise levels may be loud.
