Job Description

KARL STORZ - UNITED STATES is currently looking for a Cost Accounting Manager that will be based at our Charlton, MA location. This position is responsible for managing the Cost Accounting function through the review and analysis of manufacturing results through gross profit. This role serves as the Finance Business Partner / Lead to Production Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, financial peers at other KARL STORZ locations, IT and other key internal customers to ensure accurate and meaningful product costing and analysis, integrated with management reports.

This is a hybrid role and will be required to work onsite in Charlton, MA a minimum of 2 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as Financial Business Partner to include Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain and others as necessary to understand operational issues and impact in order to assist with operational decisions.
  • Act as a subject matter expert with IT in order to maintain financial controls, costing master data and business processes within SAP and through HANA.
  • Partners with peers at other KARL STORZ manufacturing sites to support alignment of costing standards.
  • Participate and support all internal and external audit requirements.
  • Lead audits of cycle count program, recurring analysis and commentary on gross margins and manufacturing departmental expenses.
  • Completes analysis on inventory obsolescence while working with Supply Chain to maintain agreed inventory levels.
  • Establish and support internal control, continues improvement and standard operating procedure initiatives and requirements.
  • Partner with the Operations Accounting Manager in annual budget process and reoccurring review.
  • Monthly analysis and commentary on gross margins and manufacturing departmental expenses.
  • Direct, align & implements cost accounting policies and procedures across all KS US sites.
  • Calculate department labor rates and analyze monthly absorption
  • Identify and resolve manufacturing variances and investigate significant fluctuations
  • Conduct monthly GM percent analysis
  • Create and present management information to Upper Management and Department Heads
  • Lead meetings and financial presentations
  • Be aware of practices and processes utilizing current management tools.
  • Partner with other Finance and Accounting staff.
  • Other duties consistent with the general nature and focus of the job and/or the goals and objectives of the department may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Accounting
  • 7+ years costing experience in a manufacturing environment
  • In depth knowledge of Reporting tools, ERP systems
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting
  • Advanced modeling and analytical skills
  • Advanced Excel and data base skills
  • Ability to identify problems and develop solutions in cost accounting systems
  • Exposure to GAAP accounting
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours as needed
  • Ability for approx. 10% travel
  • Ability to travel by car between company locations
  • Ability to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously and under tight deadlines is essential.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills across functional groups and with all levels.

Preferences

  • MBA, CPA, or CMA
  • SAP experience
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing

  • The incumbent in this position is generally responsible for following ISO-13485 (current revision) and FDA/QSR guidelines as described in the procedures related to his/her specific job responsibilities.
