Paraprofessional - Family Office Services

Marcum LLP is seeking an experienced paraprofessional who has solid accounting & bookkeeping experience for the Family Office Services division in our Hartford, CT office. Knowledge of fiduciary accounting a plus. This position requires a high-energy, experienced professional with strong interpersonal skills.

Job Description

  • Record monthly investment activity from brokers: dividends, interest, purchases and sales of marketable securities and other various investment activities.
  • Ability to grasp concepts quickly and demonstrate knowledge of basic technical skills, as well as related knowledge of necessary systems and procedures.
  • Assist in performing bookkeeping services for clients, preparing work papers, trial balances, financial statements, and preparing engagement correspondence.
  • Gathering data for tax return preparation and maintaining client tax files.
  • Completing month-end work, including reconciliation of broker bank accounts and posting cash receipts and disbursements.
  • Prepare checks for payment of federal, state and local tax estimates, prepare quarterly annual financial statements, and review general ledger detail to ensure completion of information for preparation of year-end returns
  • Preparing annual Forms 1099

Qualifications

  • Minimal requirements include completion of an Associate Degree, or working towards a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, that includes a significant concentration of accounting courses.
  • 2+ years of experience in public accounting, corporate or private business.
  • Strong understanding of accounting and bookkeeping services.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Ability to problem-solve and think both creatively and logically
  • A demonstrated ability to self-direct and effectively organize, prioritize and manage multiple engagements under tight deadlines
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills fostering client relationships
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective listening skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines with accuracy
  • Prior experience with Archway is a plus.
  • This is not a remote position. There is a requirement to be able to work in the office minimally three days per week.
