Yale New Haven Health?s Treasury Department is responsible for Trusteesall financing and debt management, investment management, insurance & risk management, and treasury operations for the System and its affiliates. The Capital Markets Analyst is responsible for analytical and transactional support for the System?s debt and credit and investment portfolios including calculating and validating investment performance, monitoring the System?s capital structure, communicating with various external partners and coordinating the development and production of materials for the System?s Board Committees.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Reporting to and in conjunction with the Treasurer, the Analyst will:
    • 1.1 Calculate and validate investment performance of managers, asset classes and total portfolios on a monthly basis through the use of the System's software platforms;
    • 1.2 Perform the regular investment rebalancing process to ensure adherence to portfolios' asset allocation targets;
  • 1 3. Communicate with the System's custodian, consultant, investment managers and other partners to
    ensure smooth operation of the System's investment portfolios;
    1 4. Conduct operational due diligence of external providers;
    1 5. Coordinate the opening of new custodial and manager investment accounts;
    1.6. Manage the wire transfer process across investment managers and custodian to ensure timely
    processing of capital calls, fee payments, and rebalancing transactions;
    1 7. Manager the creation and production of investment-related materials and reports;
    1.8. Assist in the manager research process by supporting the investment team in their identification and
    monitoring of investment managers;
    1 9. Participate in the annual audit and tax filing process by liaising with the Corporate Finance and Tax
    Departments to obtain relevant data from investment managers and custodian;
    1 10. Maintain proper documentation of the investment decision-making process and substantiation for
    transactions and hiring/termination of managers and vendors.
    1.11 Develop and maintain financial models related to investments, debt, cash, financial metrics, etc.,
    1 12 . Compile and analyze information related to the System's capital structure,
    1 13 . Provide execution support for capital market transactions,
    1.14. Analyze, design, recommend and implement processes and services to enhance efficiency ,
    transparency, and controls,
    1 15 . Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external constituents
  • 1.16 Provide coverage to additional functions within Treasury including Insurance & Risk Management and Treasury Operations.


Qualifications

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree preferred, focus on hard sciences (i.e., mathematics, finance, computer science, physics) preferred but any discipline will be considered. Equivalent relevant experience and progress towards a degree/associate's degree will be considered.

EXPERIENCE

Two to seven years of experience working in function roles with organizations involved in the capital markets including an investment bank, commercial bank, investment management firm, foundation/endowment, pension plan, or investment advisory firm preferred. Other relevant buy-side investment experience will be considered as well as any other relevant analytical, reporting, and/or accounting experience.

LICENSURE

Willingness to study towards obtaining investment qualification (i.e., CFA, CAIA, FSA, FRM, CIPM) with a preference for obtaining the Investment Foundations from CFA Institute within two years.

SPECIAL SKILLS

The Capital Markets Analyst will have excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. He/she will have a demonstrated knowledge of economics, finance, accounting, debt and credit markets and investment markets. A qualified candidate will be a disciplined thinker with strong conceptual abilities, will be articulate and skilled at presenting and defending his/her ideas, and will have strong business writing skills.
