Our Business Unit Lighting and Imaging offers challenging lighting and image transmission solutions for applications in the markets of automotive, aviation, medical devices, as well as industrial and safety engineering. With production units in Europe, North-America and the worldwide SCHOTT sales organization Lighting and Imaging is a leading supplier for fiber optic components.

Your Contribution
  • Serves as the technical focus for, and provides leadership for, the in-house design & installation of automation, monitoring, and control systems.
  • Establishes and maintains a comprehensive documentation and backup system for in-house software & programs (PLC, CNC, etc.)
  • Responsible for PLC, SCADA and Human Machine Interface (HMI) software selection and support (Intellution, Wonderware, RSView, Panel View, etc.)
  • Assists with the design, specifying, purchase, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of PLC-based machine control systems.
  • Responsible for programming PLC ladder logic in support of manufacturing (Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Direct Logic, etc.)
  • Generates wiring schematics and control cabinet drawings.
  • Prepares project authorizations with schedules required to fund engineering projects.
  • Manages approved projects and expenditures.
  • Responsible for specification development and cost analysis for control packages on all new machine purchases.
  • Recommends control, automation, and data acquisition upgrades.
  • Develops comprehensive support programs for PLC and PC controlled equipment.
  • Initiates and implements engineering changes and document revisions.
  • Prepares CER's for capital equipment.
  • Trains supervisors, maintenance and production workers as required.
Your Profile
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar technical discipline.
  • Three (3) years' SCADA experience with design, programming and installation of monitoring and control systems using PLC and HMI software.
  • Experience or trained on the following technologies: PLC programming in relay ladder logic, PID process control loops, SCADA control systems, AC vector and DC coordinated drive systems, project management and scheduling, and application of the National Electric Code in industrial control systems.
  • Experience with industrial robots and vision systems preferred.
  • Strong analytical ability and a disciplined problem-solving approach.
  • Computer proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office software.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Effective communication skills: listening, writing, speaking and oral presentations.
  • Self-motivated and results oriented.
  • Able and willing to work with others on a team.
  • Ability to support department and corporate policies and goals.
  • Due to the nature of work performed at this facility, US Person status may be required.
